LITTLE BIRDY OFFER UP A BIG C’MON

On the eve of their first shows in 2006, Little Birdy has announced a September 16 release date for their new four song single, “Come On, Come On”.

This disc will be the first taste of the Perth band’s forthcoming album Hollywood – the highly anticipated follow up to their 2004 ARIA Award nominated, gold selling debut, Big Big Love.

The lead track is a sassy piece of glam swagger and the single is already creating huge buzz online with over 60,000 MySpace streams of these new songs in the last 10 days alone!

Like all the tracks on Hollywood, “Come On Come On” was recorded in LA with producer John King (one half of legendary production duo The Dust Brothers who’ve collaborated with Beck and the Beastie Boys) and engineer Clif Norrell (Weezer, REM, You Am I).

The new single is accompanied by a stunning video shot by Fifty Fifty Films (Powderfinger, Pete Murray) and the CD features three extra tracks including their sought after cover of Split Enz’s “Six Months In A Leaky Boat”.

Hollywood is the start of the next Little Birdy chapter – it began in late 2003 when they joined fellow Perth buzzbands The Sleepy Jackson (fronted by Luke Steele, Little Birdy front grrl’s Katie big bro) and Eskimo Joe in creating waves nationally. Their self-titled EP (featuring “Relapse”) went top 30, BigBigLove went top 5, they made a triumphant appearance on the 2005 Big Day Out, and did a national support slot with REM and Bright Eyes before racking up loads of nominations at the ARIA Awards.

This was followed by six months of silence during which the quartet created their new songs and sounds. These will be revealed as Little Birdy launch “Come On Come On” around the nation.

A DISCO THAT’S DECENT

Melbourne three piece My Disco will be touring nationally in support of their debut album Cancer, out on September 18.

The first single “Perfect Protection” has hit the airwaves, and is a great sign of what is yet to come from the band’s anticipated record.

Since their inception in early 2003, My Disco have been extremely busy. Between performing in over seven countries, and creating countless releases on quirky formats, it’s a wonder they found the time to record a full-length album.

Having toured the country extensively, My Disco have garnered a reputation for delivering a flawless live show. Cancer captures their signature minimal set list, with eight songs in just under 25 minutes. Recorded entirely in the analog domain, the album is perhaps their most refined statement in accordance with their relentless live sound.

My Disco will hit up all the major cities on this tour before heading back to the US for a month of shows around the country.

Friday 29 September – Sound Summit Festival, Newcastle
Thursday 5 October – Annandale Hotel, Sydney
