DAMN ARMS TURN ONE

Always a band to avoid ‘playing a scene’ or ‘sticking with the genres’, Melbourne group Damn Arms has created a line-up for their 1st birthday that is sure to titillate all comers.

71 shows, 4 countries, 1,000,000kms travelled. That was the first year of Damn Arms. They’ve toured the UK with Test Icicles and Help She Can’t Swim.

They’ve toured Australia with the Kills [USA], the (International) Noise Conspiracy [SWEDEN] and Something For Kate, and played shows with Liars [USA], Whirlwind Heat [USA], Spankrock [USA], the Drones and & Hard-Ons.....and also found time to release a 6 track EP titled Patterns. Hell, they even sold out a limited 7" UK single on the first day of release!

Later this year Patterns will be relaunched in Japan, UK & USA with remixes by Darlin’ [Tim FROM Cut Copy], DJ Belgium, Jitset/Test Icicles and Melbourne’s own Midnight Juggernauts.

Joining the throng are able-bodied support from female hip hop artist Macromantics and New Order flavoured new comers Dance With Voices.

Also along for the fun, games and party tricks will be DJs Belgium & Blingrid with visuals all night from Buzzard Mountain Ranch.

It will be their last show for 3 months, while they record their debut album so come along and bring your party. Grab a drink.. Grab a glass...maybe grab some ass.

It’s a celebration time.

VERONICAS GO LARGE

After conquering Australia with a sell out tour in April, Lisa and Jess (The Veronicas) and are returning home for ‘The Revolution Tour’ – a massive fourteen city live concert journey across the country.

On their last tour the sisters proved that they could more than deliver as a live act, with reviewers nationwide applauding their talents. The Herald-Sun in Melbourne was particularly effusive: “…compared with the manufactured Hilary Duff and Ashlee Simpson, they’re Nirvana. And, unlike Ashlee, they actually sang. And well.”

Is that what you call damning with faint praise?

The Revolution Tour will follow the August release of their new single “Revolution” from their hit debut album The Secret Life Of... which has now gone triple platinum.

Hitting the tour trail with the girls will be Brisbane band Avalon Drive for all shows bar Townsville, Rockhampton and Cairns, while US hottie Ryan Cabrera (one of the gal’s current squeezes) will perform a solo acoustic set on all shows.

Tickets for The Revolution Tour go on sale on Tuesday 4 July at 9:00am local time. Their last tour sold out in minutes, so if you want ‘em this time, you better be quick!
