Paul Kelly and
The Boon Companions, The Hoodoo Gurus and Sime
Nugent perform together for fundraising concert
Timor Gathering at the Athenaeum Theatre, Melbourne
on Sunday October 8.
All proceeds go to Life,
Love, and Health to help support their ongoing programs in Timor-Leste
in response to the needs of the people during the
humanitarian crisis.
In June 2005 Paul
Kelly put together ‘Timor leste – Freedom
Rising’, a collaboration of Australian artists
donating new recordings, unreleased tracks or b-sides
to
make connections between a wide range of music
to raise money for environmental, health and education
projects in East Timor.
All funds raised from the album went to Life,
Love and Health and The
Alola Foundation which is chaired by The First
Lady Of East Timor, Kirsty Sword Gusmao.

Love Outside
Andromeda are back to their belligerent pop-rock
best with new track “Sparrow”
- lifted from their long-awaited second album, Longing
Was A Safe Place To Hide, released
a two weeks back.
“Sparrow” simply smoulders.
Frail, yet fierce, it starts with an accident
and the raw,
honest
question, “Why won’t you be straight up
with me?”
Shortly thereafter it’s
a climax of piercing guitars and trademark
vocal
acrobatics. Sianna Lee alternatively caresses
then spits her acid lyrics, all topped with
a thunderous solo break from axe-man Jamie Slocombe.
Produced by Tony Cohen, Longing Was a Safe
Place to Hide re-affirms
the strength of this young band’s conviction
and their menacing song-writing abilities. Love
Outside Andromeda have taken refuge on the road
for a large part of this year with many sell-out
shows all over the country already. The mission
to take their music to the people continues with
the release of their new album.
