MAGNOLIA SONGS AHOYO

Jason Molina is not one to settle.

Throughout his musical career of 12 plus years under his given name, Songs: Ohia and Magnolia Electric Co., he has lived in 9 different locations and produced music that ranges from edgy, heart wrenching starkness to uplifting, ragged & rollicking rock, all characterised with a depth of emotion in his voice, lyrics & the playing that has rarely been so well executed in music of any era.

In 2002 Jason Molina toured Australia as a guest of Art of Fighting & received a deservedly rapturous response to his spellbinding live solo performances, but it has taken some time for him to work his way back to Australia.

Thankfully, to coincide with the release of his new Magnolia Electric Co. album, Fading Trails, out now, he will at last be undertaking a full solo tour of Australia (& New Zealand), even including a date in Hobart.

Dates:
Tuesday November 14 - The Troubadour, Brisbane
Wednesday November 15 - The Hopetoun, Sydney
Thursday November 16 - The Hopetoun, Sydney
Saturday November 18 - The Venue, Hobart
Sunday November 19 - Northcote Social Club, Melbourne
Tuesday November 21 - Grace Emily Hotel, Adelaide
Wednesday November 22 - The Rosemount, Perth

BOCA COMES DOWN

DJ, producer and vinyl aficionado Boca 45 aka Scott Hendy arrives on Australian shores soon to spread the of his widely renowned dj talents and delight dance floors.

The funk hop brother has been tearing up dancehalls the world over with his unique style under the guise Boca 45 or with his partner in crime Andy Smith as Dynamo Productions.

Following the success of Pitch Sounds, Scott’s Australian tour coincides with his forthcoming release Vertigo Sounds. Vertigo Sounds is an album of full-flavoured organic sounding soul and funk, deftly coupled with authentic, crunchy, hiphop beats and b-boy breaks.

“I’m liking ruff but heavy sounding gear at the moment. To me there’s so much music that sounds too polished and over-produced. I’m trying to make beats/hiphop tunes how they might sound if they were made in 1968!”

Make sure you catch Boca 45 this time around – and keep yr ear out for his new single “Vertigo”
.

Saturday 30 September – Sydney, ‘Dustones’ at Abercrombie
Sunday 1 October – Fremantle, ‘Spring Fever’ at Arts Centre
