LOW HAPPENINGS
ALONG EAST COAST
Following
a massive UK tour with the uber-hot Editors & rave
reviews in the UK press, Howling Bells make a triumphant
return to Australia to celebrate the release of
their acclaimed self-titled debut album.
Rreleased
locally on July 1, already the Brits have gone
ga-ga for Juanita Stein and the band - NME called
the Ken Nelson (Coldplay, Gomez) produced album
‘extraordinary’ and
duly rated it a rare 9/10, Drowned in Sound boasts
‘Yeah Yeah Yeahs have nothing on this grace’,
whilst Mojo, The Guardian and The
Metro have
all given
the record four stars and similarly lavish praise.
The band will play a handful of select Australian
dates to support the release, before heading back
to the UK for the summer festival circuit, including
slots on the monstrous Reading and Leeds Festival
bills.
Based upon the spectacular reviews coming
out of the UK, this is certainly one show not too
be missed.
Dates:
29th June – Northern Star, Newcastle
30th
June – The Rev, Brisbane
6th July – Annandale,
Sydney
7th July – ANU,
Canberra
8th July – East
Brunswick Club, Melbourne
SOMETHING
LIKE A PHENOMENA
Already confirmed
as one of the international highlights for this
years Splendour in the Grass, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs
are pleased to announce they will also be performing
club shows around Australia and New Zealand this
coming July.
Currently touring
across Europe and the U.S., the band make a welcome
return to Australia
in July for
what will be their third Australian visit. The
world tour is their first since 2004, and sees
the band
showcasing songs from their latest album Show
Your Bones.
Show Your Bones is
the follow-up to the bands 2003 debut album, the
critically acclaimed Fever
To
Tell, and was one of this years most hotly
anticipated albums. Showered with strong reviews,
Show Your
Bones is sexy, dark, and insanely great.
Unlike their debut album, their latest effort
careens between
art
school punk and more refined pop songs, losing
some of the New York cool in favour of more instant
music.
Renowned for their
blistering live shows and over the top antics of
front gal Karen O (who
can forget
her headlong tumble from the stage in Sydney
on their last visit to our shores, resulting
in a four-song set for $40) the forthcoming shows
promise to be a must-see on every gig goer’s
rock ’n roll
calendar.
