METAL FOR
YER MACHINES
As one of hte biggest
names in metal, every time industrial
metal gods Fear Factory announce a tour the cats
dressed in black finally get happy.
The band’s last album Transgression came
out almost a year ago, delivering more precise
songs.
Fear Factory was
one of the first bands to fuse the loud, crushing
intensity of death metal with the cold harshness
of industrial electronics and samples, producing
a more varied sonic palette with which to express
their bleak, pessimistic view of modern, technology-driven
society.
The fans will be
ecstatic to hear that Fear Factory are returning
to Australia
in September, bringing fellow metallers DevilDriver
with them for the first
time.
DevilDriver were formed by former Coal Chamber front
man Dez Farfara.
The
bands will visit the east coast on their whirlwind
tour, bringing up another notch on their Australian
bed posts. The band have been part of two Big Day
Out tours in the past, one where they were well known
to be the “secret
band” before they even took to the stage.

Sunday 17 September - The Palace, Melbourne
ROGER THAT
d rogers released
his charming new album ‘neath the dark
of fuses blown earlier this month.
‘neath
the dark of fuses blown is a recording
project that came to life while rogers lived above
one of Japan’s largest train stations. Recorded
in the early hours of the morning when trains weren’t
so frequent or noisy, his songs range from expressions
of loneliness to frustration – all packaged
as a charming collection of folk pop.
rogers returned to
Melbourne at the end of 2005 with his guitar in
one hand,
his newly recorded album
in the other. Within two months of landing, he had
secured a manager, a CD release deal, an ARIA award
winning producer offering to record his next album – and
played shows with Sophie Koh and Josh Pyke.
‘neath
the dark of fuses blown is
a collection of songs that at once sound familiar
and new. As the sweet sounds of ‘neath
the dark of fuses blown become available in stores and
online,
d rogers and his band, the well wishers, hit the
road for an East Coast tour in August playing shows
in Melbourne, Geelong, Sydney and Brisbane.
Led by rogers on
guitar/vocals, the well wishers consist of Glenn
Arnup (Klinger)
on bass/vocals,
John Palmer (The Raylenes) on guitar/vocals, Michelle
Collins (The Person Things) on keyboards/accordian,
and Tele D. (The New Types) on drums – a fine
collection of musicians that will help bring ‘neath
the dark of fuses blown to life.
