PANDA POINTS

Firstly - The Panda Band album This Vital Chapter (we’re almost not even here) is recorded, mastered and available right now. Cool!!

Secondly - for those of you in the USA, The Panda Band have done a deal with Filter US Recordings (home to Magnet, Devics and Amusement Parks on Fire).

The current release date is September 12 and the album is distributed through Fontana. Plans to tour the USA and UK before the end of the year are being arranged even as you read.

Thirdly - The Panda Band are going on the road around Australia in August to promote the album - as you do. Their tour started last week, and has since taken in the likes of the Sunshine Coast, Brisbane, and Byron Bay, before winging its way south to Victoria.

Fourthly and signing off - pay a visit to the new look www.myspace.com/thepandaband for some tunes and video footage of the band in the studio recording the album. Also you’ll be able to access the band’s podcast tour diary and lots of other fun stuff.

MEREDITH 2006 TAKES OFF

It’s exhausting coping in The Modern World, so many whiz-bang gadgets and fads to stay fully abreast of. Only this morning two cables came in at once! Why not take a load off and go Where Everybody Knows Your Name?

It’s still there you know. It’s laying in wait. Same same but different. It’s a few months away yet but it Will Again Be Possible for your very good self to enter the time-space continuum and topple immediately hard left, grappling happily for an anchor, then over-correct to the right with giddy laughter, before finally leveling out Supremely for an epic, sprawling weekend in The Supernatural. Or maybe West Kevin.

Would you care for a Pink Flamingo madam? And for sir?

Will you be Underpanted in The Gift?

Shall we ride The Eye at dusk Aunty?

How does dry cleaning work. It’s still not clear.

The Sweet Sixteenth Meredith Music Festival takes place on:
December 8th, 9th and 10th, 2006.

Tickets go on sale on Tuesday September 12th at 10am. They will be available from www.snowgum.com.au via secure credit card, Snowgum phone sales (we’ll give you the number closer to the day), or from two bricks-and-mortar Pillars Of Society, Greville Records Prahran and Polyester Fitzroy. That’s all. They’ll be biting once and once only and when fished out they’ll be extinct.

Rest assured that they will be snapped up like…you know.

There will be one thousand less people there than there was last year. Then that’s how many there will be forever more and there will be no more Talk Of Numbers. The formula is one; the die is cast. Forever now. Wrap it up in some tenderness.

Any questions? Of course.

- Who’s playing: plenty.
- When will the line-up be made public: in August. Before tickets go on sale.
- Will it still be BYO, just like it was sixteen years ago: yes.
- Will there still be just The One Stage, like there was sixteen years ago: yes.
- Better facilities: yessiree.
- The Car Park Festival running again? Yes, Sunday December 10th, Chinatown, Melbourne.

Is The Meredith DVD finally finished? Yes, will be on sale at the festival.
