THE CAT EMPIRE RETURN

Lucky Australian punters are soon to get the home crowd advantage to catch The Cat Empire as they make their way around the country for the first time in a year.

It’s been a busy year for the 6 piece, who started 2006 with a surprise performance on The Commonwealth Games Opening Ceremony Stage, introducing the Empire to a televised audience of 1 billion people. The music became the limited edition release Cities –The Cat Empire Project.

Shortly after, the guys packed their bags for a World Tour across 3 continents, playing 45 dates in 12 countries – including Sold Out shows throughout Asia, USA, Canada, Europe, UK and their first Japan appearance at Summer Sonic.

Following their debut at Montreal Jazz Festival in front of 120 000 people, the media hailed the band as “The Feline Revelation!”, while the New York Times said “Lock up your inner accountant. Put down your Proust and your Gramsci. The Cat Empire are coming to entertain you. Join the ever-growing throngs of fans, and enjoy yourself.”

All this lead to the announcement of a US deal with Velour records, and a Canadian Deal with Indica, where the guys have already hit the radio and video charts. News of a European deal is expected shortly.

Anyone would expect them to be exhausted after all of this, but The Cat Empire are excited to be coming back to the Australian stages.

To kick off their return, the Cat Empire are bringing the beach to Newcastle Uni - bringing in 120 tonne of sand to create an on-land beach party! The line-up includes Soulive (USA), Regurgitator, Blue King Brown and more to be announced, across two stages - from 6pm to midnight.

RISE AGAIN

Rise Against’s ferocious set on last year’s Taste of Chaos Tour thrilled thousands, whipping fans into a frenzy nationwide. In November this year, Rise Against will head downunder to do it all over again, but this time, they’ll be headlining their own shows in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth. New Zealander’s will also be treated to Rise Against’s impressive live shows, when the band perform in Auckland.

With a career spanning six years, four albums and over half a million album sales, Rise Against exemplify punk-rock at its finest. Best described as a barrage of unhinged power, attention-seeking melodies and rousing lyrics, Rise Against have managed to capture the attention of both the underground and mainstream music circles throughout the course of their career.

Anything but a single-minded musical outfit, Rise Against are continually pushing the boundaries of the punk-rock genre. Their most recent release The Sufferer and The Witness has been described as their best effort to date.

A large part of Rise Against’s success is owed to their explosive live shows. In the early days, extensive touring set them up to become the hugely popular band they now are, and it is onstage that Rise Against are at their best.

Dates:
Wednesday 29 November - The Arena, Brisbane
Thursday 30 November - Roundhouse UNSW, Sydney
Friday 1 December - The Palace, Melbourne
Sunday 3 December - Fowler’s Live, Adelaide
Tuesday 5 December Club - Capitol, Perth
Thursday 7 December - St James, Auckland NZ
