THE STROKES RETURN IN AUGUST

The Strokes need little introduction to Australasian audiences. Last November the band tantalised a privileged few with a ‘secret’ gig at Sydney’s Gaelic Theatre, which sold out in just five minutes. Fans begged for more shows and now The Strokes are delivering with a tour of Australia and New Zealand this August.

Renowned for their electrifying live shows, The Strokes will showcase songs from their latest album First Impressions of Earth. Performances from the band’s worldwide promo tour last year had both critics and fans alike in a spin.

Whhile some reviews have been mixed, one thing that has been agreed about Last Impressions of Earth is that it expands the Strokes sonic palette - from the likes of the ‘Munsters’-like bass riff of lead-off single “Reptilia” to the Mellotron-lead stunner “Ask Me Anything”, it’s the sort of album that has found the New York fivesome broadening their horizons.

The band perform in Auckland, Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth this August. With no room for additional shows fans should be at the ready when tickets go on sale next Friday 23 June at 9AM sharp. Make sure you snap them up straight away because these shows will sell out!

Dates:
Tuesday 1 August - St James, Auckland
Thursday 3 August - Brisbane Entertainment Centre
Friday 4 August - Hordern Pavilion, Sydney
Sunday 6 August - Festival Hall, Melbourne
Monday 7 August - Thebarton Theatre, Adelaide
Wednesday 9 August - Challenge Stadium, Perth

THE ZUTONS GET RED RIDERS

If you missed out on tickets to the sold out Splendour in the Grass Festival in Byron Bay and were hoping to catch The Zutons live this July, then no worries: in addition to performing at Splendour, The Zutons will also perform headline side-shows in both Melbourne and Sydney.

The Zutons have developed quite a reputation for their live shows. From headline performances in intimate bars and clubs to supporting the likes of U2, Oasis and REM in arenas and stadiums, The Zutons are one polished outfit.

Just released in Australia, The Zutons new album Tired of Hanging Around is receiving praise equally as impressive as their debut long player Who Killed The Zutons?.

Already big stars in the UK, with their first album selling in excess of 600,000 copies and their current album debuting into the charts at No. 2, it’s finally Australia’s turn for a dose of The Zutons’ magical pop. Get tickets when they go on sale next Friday 9 June.

Meanwhile, it’s all systems go in camp Red Riders. Following their headline performance at Sydney’s Come Together Festival, the indie rockers will join eclectic UK band The Zutons for two rabble-rousing shows in Melbourne and Sydney this July.

But that’s just the beginning of what’s set to be a massive year for Red Riders. The band recently decamped to Byron Bay’s Rockinghorse Studios to record their eagerly-awaited debut album with producer Woody Annison, and it’s shaping up as one mighty fine album. Mixing is still to be completed on the long-player, but it’s set for release later this year.

Get ready for a mouthful of blisteringly good punked up pop hitting you soon from Red Riders, and be sure to catch them when they support The Zutons. Also stay tuned for a full headline tour to be announced shortly.

Dates:
Wednesday July 19th – Prince of Wales, Melbourne
Friday July 21st - The Gaelic Theatre, Sydney
