DECEMBER
IN NOVEMBER FOR AFI
On the heels of their
US #1 album December Underground, AFI announce
their first Australasian tour since 2003. In addition
to return engagements in Melbourne, Brisbane and
Sydney, AFI will also be playing shows for the
first time in Adelaide, Perth and Auckland.
AFI continue to avoid easy categorisation
with December Underground, fusing their
unique blend of punk-infused new-wave rock with screamo,
electronic and pop edges. December
Underground adds polish to the sound AFI brought
to their breakthrough release Sing the Sorrow.
Having sold out every date of their last tour of
Australia, AFI will now take their explosive live
performance to large venues in twice as many cities.
The aggressive, energetic and almost epic AFI live
show never fails
to leave fans wishing for more. The spectacle of
thousands of fans singing every word to every song
- from earlier albums through to December Underground -
should be enough in and of itself to make the AFI
tour one of the most memorable of the year.
Often considered one of the
world’s most intensely
worshipped band, AFI’s fan base continues to
grow in size and intensity. Leaving a trail of sold
out shows behind them on their current world tour,
AFI are in high demand around the globe. Don’t
miss your chance to see the other side to rock’s
superstars of 2006 as they bring December Underground to
life in November.

SODASTREAM
FAREWELL OZ (FOR 2006)
Following an East
Coast tour and the release of their fourth album
Reservations to much critical acclaim, Melbourne
duo Sodastream will play their final Australian
shows for 2006 in Melbourne, Adelaide, Perth, and
Fremantle during September/October.
Sodastream will then head overseas for three months
to release Reservations in Europe. Being
the lucky guys they are, they’ll be based in
Italy and will play a series of special shows throughout
Europe
and the
UK.
Reservations is a bittersweet, beautiful offering
from Karl Smith and Pete Cohen, featuring a string
of star-studded guests including Marty Brown (Art
of Fighting), Libby Chow (Clare Bowditch and the
Feeding Set), Biddy Connor
(Disaster Plan), J Walker (Machine Translations)
and Zoe Randell (Grand Salvo).
The album sees Sodastream jumping effortlessly from
acoustic introspection and instrumentals, to raucous
sing-a-long shanties.
But even with the addition
of horns and harmonicas, the core of their sound
remains the same – acoustic
guitars, driving double bass, and some of the most
captivating song writing to come out of Australia
in years.
During their ten-year career, Sodastream have toured
relentlessly throughout Australia, Europe and North
America, and have shared stages with the likes of
Low, the Mountain Goats, Thalia Zedek, Yo La Tengo
and Lambchop.

Melbourne
Saturday 23 September - The Jade
Monkey, Adelaide
Friday 29 September - Hyde Park Hotel
