THE MESS HALL SAY GOODBYE (FOR NOW)

Having walked in and out of the South X South West Music conference in Austin, Texas with their fair share of industry and punter hype alike, The Mess Hall are taking the rock n roll grunt that has seen them become one of Australia’s hottest live acts back to the fine people of the USA.

This time out, the mighty Wolfmother has invited the Mess Hall out on one of the most hotly anticipated and highly hyped tours in the USA for 2006, with Nashville, Atlanta and Los Angeles amongst the stops on the run that spans both coasts and all points between.

The Mess Hall will be performing songs from the ARIA nominated releases Notes From A Ceiling and Feeling Sideways, as well as pulling out some new songs pencilled in for their next long player due out mid-2007.

On top of the Wolfmother dates they’ll be embarking on their own shows, as well as slotting in some pre-production for the new album, basing themselves in Brooklyn until the end of the year.

Dates:
The Annandale Hotel, Sydney

Thursday 24th August - with The City Lights and Bridezilla
Friday 25th August - with Bit By Bats and The Legs (Melb)

THE VALENTINOS GET A TWEETER

In their quest for worldwide domination, Sydney band The Valentinos have taken time off from their insanely hectic touring schedule to crack open the Moet and sign to new maverick Sydney based independent label Mosquito’s Tweeter.

Headed by Luke Wallace and Leah Simmons (insert Star Wars joke here) they bring together a wealth of experience from their various roles in the music industry in the UK and Europe.

Leah Simmons was, for a number of years, the pivotal backbone of quite possibly the world’s biggest break-beat label, Finger Lickin’ Records. Whilst self-proclaimed East London layabout Luke Wallace, a jack of all trades, posed as a journalist before jumping ship to take up the roll of in-house Press & Marketing Manager for East London music company Cargo.

The Valentinos new single “Rain”, taken from their as yet untitled forthcoming sophomore EP, will serve as the soundtrack to the band’s hectic touring schedule with UK hipster duo Johnny Boy.

Footnote: But what the f**k is a Mosquito’s Tweeter?!
‘ Funkier Than A Mosquito’s Tweeter’ is the infamous Nina Simone song that ooooozes spiralling rhythm, flow and soul. It’s just waiting to explode, but manages to keep in check. This will be the ethos of the label and the bands it signs. Just like a mosquito, first you’ll hear the buzz and then it’s going to bite you in the arse and infect you for life.

But don’t just take out word for it, make up your own mind when the The Valentinos hit your town with UK’s Johnny Boy and select local supports this August.

Dates:
Tuesday 15 - 610, Brisbane
Thursday 17 - Club 77, Sydney
Friday 18 - Spectrum, Sydney
Saturday 19 - Northern Star, Newcastle
Thursday 24 - Oxford Tavern, Wollongong
Friday 25 - Eeast Brunswick Club, Melbourne
Saturday 26 - Rocket Bar, Adelaide
