VOICE OF AN ANGEL RETURNS

Fifteen years. Ten albums. And still Ron Sexsmith is the music world’s best kept secret. But this secret has been building for so long that it’s not so much a matter of if, but when the dam will break. So, Australia, prepare for a flood when Ron Sexsmith returns this September-October.

Sexsmith’s dedicated, and rather vocal, gang of admirers includes the likes of Elvis Costello, kd lang and Elton John (who says, quite rightly, that Ron has the voice of an angel), while Kiefer Sutherland (yes, he of 24 fame) is set to release Sexsmith’s new album Time Being in the US via his Ironworks label.

The album in question, his tenth, is the aural equivalent of a warm embrace, telling impassioned tales and radiating defiant positivity.

He’s duetted with Coldplay’s Chris Martin. Been covered by Rod Stewart. And is always guaranteed a packed house in Australia. Why all the love? It’s simple: great songs sung with genuine soul.

The secret’s out – Ron Sexsmith will be doing amazing things with chords and notes when he tours Australia in September/October.

Dates:
Tuesday 26 September - The Zoo, Brisbane
Wednesday 27 September - Corner Hotel, Melbourne
Thursday 28 September - Northcote Social Club, Melbourne
Friday 29 September - The Basement, Sydney
Monday 2 October - Newtown RSL, Sydney
Sunday 1 October - The Clarendon, Katooomba

BREATHING IN CIRCLES

2006 has been a landmark year for Kate Miller-Heidke. With her EP Circular Breathing making waves in the media and sold-out tours around Australia, Kate has firmly announced her arrival to the Australian public.

Having been invited on the respected BROAD festival this year, Kate performed with outstanding singer/songwriters including Mia Dyson, Ella Hooper, Deborah Conway and Melinda Schneider throughout August. She then reassembles her own band to hit the road for a final time in 2006, playing her Apartment Tour - five special shows in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide, before heading into the studio to record her debut album.

The Apartment Tour will be the biggest headline shows of Kate’s career, as she thanks fans for their support throughout the year. Kate will also celebrate the release of her first video clip for the single “Apartment”, adding another chapter into the book that Kate Miller-Heidke began with her debut EP Telegram and its breakout indie hit “Space They Cannot Touch” only just over a year ago.

The release of her second EP Circular Breathing this year showed an amazing growth in Kate as an artist and resulted in further Triple J support for the tracks “Out & In” and “Apartment” as well as rave reviews by critics. A six song collection of melodic and sublimely understated piano and guitar driven folk-pop tunes, Circular Breathing marries incisive, quirky, personal and poetic lyrics with a vocal performance that is nothing short of masterful.

With the EP continuing to build her live following, Kate had a heavy year of touring and looks forward to rounding out her touring year with these special live shows in October.

Dates:
Wednesday 4 October: The Tivoli, Brisbane
Thursday 5 October: The Basement, Sydney
Friday 6 October: Jive Bar, Adelaide
Saturday 7 October: Northcote Social Club, Melbourne
Sunday 8 October: Northcote Social Club, Melbourne
