FLAVOUR FOR FALLS

The Falls Festival is one of Australia’s finest summer music festival nestled along the beautiful coastlines of Lorne, Victoria and Marion Bay, Tasmania featuring around 50 performers, comedians, Falls Arts Village Extravaganza, films, spectacular amphitheatres and two nights FREE camping.

The response to the first announcement of The Falls Festival was overwhelming prompting tickets to sell-out in just a few hours.

With four months to go, there’s plenty of news and action still to come, starting with the second of many line-up announcements. The Falls Festival is chuffed to announce that Hilltop Hoods, Eskimo Joe, Scribe (NZ), The Sleepy Jackson, The Mountain Goats (USA), Little Birdy, The Exploders, Jen Cloher And The Endless Sea and Dan Sultan have all just been added to The Falls Festival in Lorne, Victoria and Marion Bay, Tasmania.

The Falls Festival line-up includes so far:

  • Modest Mouse (USA)
  • Michael Franti and Spearhead (USA)
  • Wolfmother
  • The Bees (UK)
  • The John Butler Trio
  • Hilltop Hoods
  • Eskimo Joe
  • Scribe (NZ)
  • Saul Williams (USA)
  • The Sleepy Jackson
  • The Mountain Goats (USA)
  • You Am I
  • The Black Seeds (NZ)
  • Little Birdy
  • Matt Costa (USA)
  • The Audreys
  • Youth Group
  • Jamie Lidell (UK)
  • Josh Pyke
  • Blue King Brown
  • The Exploders
  • Jen Cloher And The Endless Sea
  • Dan Sultan

And just think: that makes up nearly half of the final line-up with so many more still to be announced.

Late ticket release: For those who missed out on tickets, stay tuned for details of a small allocation of late release tickets for both events.

Dates:
30-31.12.2006 - Marion Bay, Tasmania & Lorne, Victoria

VOLTING INTO CONTENTION

A live performance by The Mars Volta ascends to musical heights few ever experience. Salacious, self-indulgent and psychedelic, The Mars Volta leave their audience speechless show after show. This stunning live eight-piece outfit never fails to showcase musical virtuosity at its absolute finest.

Continuing their love affair with Australia, The Mars Volta return for a run of shows across the country. The last time Australia and New Zealand experienced The Mars Volta it was as part of the Big Day Out, but this time they return for a headlining tour, taking in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth, as well as satisfying New Zealander’s with an appearance in Auckland.

The Mars Volta return in support of their third album Amputechture, which signals a change for The Mars Volta; this is their first album without a unifying narrative.

While Omar Rodriguez-Lopez and Cedric Bixler-Zavala held their places of creating the music and lyrics respectively, this time they chose to compartmentalize the record. Forming a collection of unrelated stories, vignettes, inside jokes and memories, Amputechture, which notably features John Frusciante of Red Hot Chili Pepper’s fame, is the band’s crowning moment thus far.

Glowing reviews hint at The Mars Volta producing one of their best albums yet. The band’s live concerts incite similar praise. The Mars Volta are no strangers to the adulation of Aussie and Kiwi fans, as they sell out shows, tour after tour. With the phenomenal Amputechture in hand, demand for this band is going to be fiercer than ever before.

Tickets go on sale Thursday 21 September. Don’t miss your chance to experience the astounding Mars Volta as they show us how extraordinary music can be.
